SpanWise asks before installing. The signature is verified before the downloaded update is opened.

SpanWise checks its update channel at dl.spanwise.pro once a day. The appcast and Download page are generated from the same signed release record, so the website and in-app updater always point to the same latest stable version.

When an update is available:

1. SpanWise shows the version and release notes and asks whether you want to update.
2. Sparkle downloads the immutable, versioned DMG from dl.spanwise.pro.
3. Sparkle verifies its EdDSA signature before extraction.
4. macOS verifies the Developer ID signature and notarization.
5. After approval, Sparkle replaces SpanWise and relaunches it automatically.

Scheduled checks never install silently. You can also choose Check for Updates… from the SpanWise menu at any time.
